Photos: Astro Orbiter's Rockets Have Landed Back at Magic Kingdom
The iconic Tomorrowland attraction is set to begin taking flight sometime this summer.
Work around Tomorrowland continues, as Astro Orbiter prepares for takeoff after a nearly six month refurbishment and the removal of spaceship-theme Coca-Cola refreshment stand.
What’s Happening:
- On a recent trip to the Magic Kingdom, Laughing Place had a chance to check out all the construction action in Tomorrowland.
- The most prominent changes include newly reinstalled elements of Astro Orbiter.
- The Dumbo-style attraction, which sits high above Tomorrowland, went down for refurbishment back on January 13th.
- The entire attraction, including most of its theming elements, were completely removed.
- Earlier this month, the giant crane used to disassemble the attraction returned.
- Just a few short weeks later, the attraction is almost completely reassembled, including many of the planetarium-style decorations and rockets.
- It shouldn’t be much longer before the attraction begins taking off once again.
- It doesn’t appear as if any theming changes have been made to match the more retro-futurism redesign of Tomorrowland, with the 1998 sci-fi elements and color schemes still decorating the attraction.
- Just nearby, the red spacecraft-theme Coca-Cola refreshment stand, aka Cool Ship, has been completely removed, with a large fence blocking the area.
- The metal support beams appear to have been cut, meaning if anything is heading to this area, it will be a completely new addition.
- While no official opening date for Astro Orbiter has been announced, the resort promised a summer 2025 timeframe.
